GWM shows up at Johannesburg Int'l Motor Show

From October 16 to 27, 2013, Johannesburg Int'l Motor Show will take place at Nasrec Expo Centre.

From October 16 to 27, 2013, Johannesburg Int'l Motor Show will take place at Nasrec Expo Centre. As the largest motor show in South Africa and the whole of Africa, the show will attract dozens of renowned automakers from the world like Toyota, Hyundai, Benz and Jaguar, with a total exhibition area of 85,000 square meters.



Also present will be some Chinese mainstream auto brands. As the largest China pickup and SUV automaker, GWM will show up with a strong lineup of nine models and two power systems.

Several models appear and will be launched in SA

GWM's booth will be in Hall 7 with an exhibition area of 975 square meters, the hall will bring together brands like Hyundai and GM. At the show, GWM shall put on display three SUVs, three passenger cars, two pickups and a racecar, including Great Wall M4, Great Wall H5, Great Wall H6, Great Wall C30, Great Wall C20R, Great Wall C50, Wingle 5, Wingle 6 and Dakar Racecar. Also on show there will be two power systems --gasoline engine GW4C20 and diesel engine GW4D20.



According to Tony, chairman of GWM South Africa, following the show, models like Great Wall M4, Great Wall H6 and Great Wall C50 will be launched in South Africa.

GWM's products sold now in South Africa cover SUV, pickup and passenger cars and include models like Great Wall H5,Wingle 5, C10.

Continuing M series' precise position as a "mini SUV", Great Wall M4 has achieved monthly sales of over 10,000 units for straight months. Besides the solid and cool exterior, the sporty black interior, as well as internal and external visual sensory design such as luxurious seats, it enjoys overwhelming advantage over other common hatchbacks in terms of cross-country performance. With a ground clearance of 185mm, it features 250mm giant tires, 16-inch hubs and four-wheel-drive system. It has the features of SUV and a nimble body as well.

Great Wall H6, another key model of GWM, has an ultra long wheelbase of 2,680mm. It features humanized design such as dual-temperature air conditioning and rear-row flat flow, as well as keyless entry and start system. According to sources, Great Wall SUV has retained the Chinese SUV sales title for ten straight years. Since its launch in 2011, Great Wall SUV has achieved cumulative sales of over 270,000 units, ranked top in monthly sales and outperformed joint venture brands like CRV and Tiguan many times.

The appearance and the future launch of the new models in South Africa will enrich local products and entries of C30 and C50 will inject new vitality into the South African car market to offer more choices to local consumers.

GWM takes roots in South Africa after seven years' efforts.

Since the first export in 1998, GWM has ranked top among Chinese automakers in terms of exports for consecutive years; it has exported products to regions like Europe, Australia, Africa, Central and South America and the Middle East, of which Russia, Australia, South Africa, Chile and Algeria have become its key export destinations. In 2012, GWM exported 96,000 units.



Since entering the South African market in 2007, GWM has kept ahead of other Chinese auto brands in terms of terminal sales and market inventory. In 2012, South Africa's terminal sales stood at 618,677 units, up about 7.9 percent year on year, and GWM contributed 7,793 units, up 14.99 percent year on year, ranking 13th on the list including big names like Toyota and Volkswagen. To sharpen its product competitiveness in South Africa, GWM is working actively on network construction, too. To date, GWM has established 78 specialty stores in South Africa.

GWM's appearance at the show with a strong lineup of nine models and two power systems will show its great attention about the South African market. The successive launch of five models after the show will boost GWM's sales and future development in South Africa. GWM's overall sales in the second half of 2013 are expected to exceed 5,000 units.



Also, GWM will make use of the show to enhance its brand influence and image, boost distributors' confidence, expand its market share, further develop the South African market and shore up its market position in a bid to move into the top 10 in South Africa.
