GWM Malaysia's First Locally Assembled Vehicle Rolls Off the Production Line
Recently, GWM Malaysia's first locally assembled HAVAL H6 HEV officially rolled off the production line at the CKD plant in Melaka, operated by Malaysian manufacturer EP Manufacturing Berhad. As GWM Malaysia's fourth model after the ORA GOOD CAT, ORA 07, and GWM TANK 300, and the first locally assembled vehicle, the HAVAL H6 HEV demonstrates GWM's commitment to long-term strategy and global expansion, reflecting the company's determination to deepen its presence in the Malaysian market. In the future, GWM aims to offer Malaysian consumers even more high-quality options.
EP Manufacturing Berhad’s Melaka plant, which partners with GWM Malaysia, has an initial production capacity of 10,000 units annually, with plans to expand to 30,000 units in the second phase. The plant operates with support from GWM’s headquarters, utilizing engineering experts and quality control systems. It was put into operation only after strict inspection to ensure all processes meet high standards. GWM Malaysia is dedicated to providing cutting-edge hybrid technology, increasing localization, and contributing to the local economy. The local assembly of the HAVAL H6 HEV is a testament to GWM Malaysia's commitment.
GWM places a high priority on product quality control. To ensure excellence in every stage of manufacturing and assembly, the HAVAL H6 HEV will undergo thorough inspections after assembly. This process involves over 12 stringent quality checks to ensure every vehicle meets the highest safety standards. Additionally, the vehicle will undergo a series of performance tests on dedicated test drive roads, further highlighting GWM Malaysia’s commitment to quality and the driving experience of its users.
This family SUV has won over 100 monthly sales championships in the Chinese market, with monthly sales exceeding 80,000 units at its peak and global sales surpassing 4 million units. The successful local production of the first unit in Malaysia marks an important milestone in GWM’s development in the country, signaling the company's commitment to deepening its localization efforts and ensuring product quality through close cooperation with local partners.
As a firm advocate of globalization, GWM continues to expand its overseas strategic footprint. This year, multiple KD plant projects have commenced production in Malaysia, Ecuador, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Ghana. These projects demonstrate GWM’s commitment to local integration, contributing to local employment and expanding its production capabilities abroad to better meet the needs of international markets.
Malaysia, as a mature automotive market, is a key strategic market for GWM in ASEAN and globally. GWM will continue to adhere to its long-term strategy, promoting "long-termism" in Malaysia, and bringing safe, intelligent, clean, high-quality vehicles and services to Malaysian consumers.
