GWM (Thailand) Becomes Official Mobility and Logistics Partner of the 62nd Session of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization
Bangkok, September 9, 2024 – GWM (Thailand) has partnered with Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to become the official mobility and logistics partner of the 62nd Session of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization (AALCO), continuing its mission in the mobility and logistics sector. On September 6, GWM (Thailand) delivered TANK 300 HEV and TANK 500 HEV models to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to serve international representatives from over 47 member countries of Asia and Africa during the conference.
At the handover ceremony, Ms. Suphanvasa Chotikajan Tang, Director-General of the Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and Mr. Sompop Sermswatsri, Director of the Legal Affairs Division, attended the event on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “The automotive industry is accelerating into the new energy era. GWM (Thailand) is very honored to be entrusted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a transportation and logistics partner, providing representatives from Asian and African member countries with the experience of new energy vehicles,” said GWM (Thailand) General Manager, Chong Baoyu, during the handover of the vehicles. "The GWM TANK series is the culmination of over 30 years of GWM's experience in building off-road SUVs, combined with the latest hybrid off-road technology. In China, one out of every two off-road SUVs sold is a GWM TANK model. Since its launch in Thailand, the TANK models have gained recognition from Thai consumers for their ‘urban and wild’ capabilities, advanced off-road technology, and intelligent driving safety features."
The TANK 300 HEV and TANK 500 HEV models are built on the TANK off-road hybrid platform and manufactured at GWM’s Rayong plant in Thailand. The TANK platform was developed by GWM over five years, with an investment of 20 billion yuan, integrating top global resources. It is China’s first and the world’s leading intelligent professional off-road platform, capable of supporting the development of B-class to D+-class models and meeting the development needs of different markets worldwide. The platform boasts high "inclusive" redefining global off-road vehicle standards. Currently, GWM TANK models have been launched in countries and regions such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, and the Middle East.
The TANK series has already entered over 30 countries and regions, with overseas sales accounting for more than 20%. In 2023, global cumulative sales exceeded 160,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 31%, making it China’s top-selling off-road brand overseas. The TANK 300 has become the second best-selling rugged off-road vehicle globally and received a five-star safety rating from ANCAP. It is the only rugged off-road vehicle to win the Australian Car of the Year Award. The TANK 500 has also become a popular model for official procurement in key off-road markets such as the Middle East, Eurasia, and Australia, as well as in various countries, regions, and organizations globally.
